EVERETT – The Everett Police Department is investigating an afternoon shooting on Monday, May 16.

At about 2:41 p.m. Monday, May 16, Everett officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Taco Bell at 7431 Evergreen Way. When officers arrived, they found the male victim in the parking lot near his vehicle with a single gunshot wound to his upper leg/hip area. The victim was an unknown-race male in his mid-thirties. Officers saw that the male was bleeding significantly from his wound so a tourniquet was applied. Everett Fire personnel arrived and took the victim to Providence Regional Medical Center where he is undergoing surgery for a non-life threatening injury.

Detectives responded to the scene. Based on the initial investigation, the victim and the suspect were seated in their own vehicles a couple of parking stalls apart from each other when an argument ensued. The argument led to a physical fight in the parking lot and it was during this fight that the suspect shot the victim. The suspect, who is only described as a black male, fled in a non-descript white passenger car.

This incident remains under investigation.
