Young Man Killed at Everett Halfway House

Kenny J Tate was seen by Judge Tam Bui to answer to charges of murder and rape, thankfully she didn’t let this one go free without bail.

He will return for a bail hearing next week, hopefully in front of a Judge who won’t just let him bail out.

To think of the horrific manner in which this young man died is heartbreaking. For most of us our life begins to really take off when we turn 30 in spite of all the dumb things we did in our teens and twenties. Instead his family is making funeral arrangements for him.

His daughter will never feel his comforting words the first time a boy breaks her heart, or a friend turns on her.

His parents will never spend another holiday with him… All for what?

He was doing drugs with the house manager of the halfway house, whether he had an issue with drugs or not is unknown but this predator gave him these drugs with the intent of sexually assaulting him, instead he took his life.

The question no one is answering and most would be ashamed to come forward and admit is:

How many other young men has he done this to?

How many young men are going to come forward and admit they were doing drugs or that they were raped?

Women have support groups, we are encouraged even empowered to come forward but with all this homophobia so prevalent in our so-called progressive nation, little boys still don’t tell and neither do men. We have got to change this.

Nothing we can do will bring this young man back. I was sent pictures of this young man with his daughter but I haven’t had a chance to contact the family yet to see if they want them posted right now but I can tell you he was a beautiful young man, he could’ve been one of my sons, or any one of your sons.

Rape happens to men, more then anyone knows. We need to create a safe place for survivors to go without the stigmatism associated with it.

Hug your sons just a little tighter today, and teach them that bad things can happen to them to through no fault of their own.

40 year-old Kenny J. Tate of Everett has been booked into the Snohomish County Jail on probable cause for murder 1st degree, rape 1st degree and robbery 1st degree.

At about 9:30 am on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, officers responded to a reported death in the 6900 block of Beverly Ln. The location is a transitional home where alcohol and drugs are prohibited. Arriving officers found a deceased white male in his 30’s on the floor in the manager’s room. During the initial investigation drug paraphernalia was found, the death was deemed suspicious and detectives with the Major Crimes Unit were requested.

At about 2:30 am on December 3, 2015, Kenny J. Tate turned himself in at the Everett Police Department South Precinct. He told detectives that he is the House Manager of the transitional home and was attracted to the male victim. According to Tate, he decided to manipulate the victim with illegal drugs and predetermined he would have forced sexual relations with him. After using drugs, Tate told the victim that they were not free and he was expected to pay with sexual favors. When the victim refused, an altercation occurred during which the victim died and was later found with a belt around his neck.
